Live Before You Write: The Value of Lived Experience

“You can’t write about facing the wild if you never been in the wild. You can’t do it honestly. There’s no spirit of truth, no spirit of life in that unless you’ve been out there face to face with death in the wild. You got no business writing about it.” — Dry Creek Wrangler School
Description

In this talk, Dwayne from Dry Creek Wrangler School argues that the best writing—and the best wisdom—comes from lived experience, not just intellectual study or secondhand knowledge. He emphasizes that those who have truly lived, taken risks, and gotten their hands dirty offer deeper insights than those who merely read or theorize. This perspective challenges us to value action over empty words and to seek lessons from those who have actually “been in the wild.”
